| Dr. Jane N. Erin
During the 2002-2003 academic year she served as interim associate dean in the College of Education. From 1984 to 1994 she was on the faculty at The University of Texas at Austin, and previous to that she was a teacher of visually impaired children and a program supervisor at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children in Pittsburgh. Dr. Erin is past president of the Division on Visual Handicaps of the Council for Exceptional Children. From 1989 through 1994 she was an executive editor of RE:view. She served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness from 1999-2001. She has served as president of both the Texas and Arizona chapters of the Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER). In 1996 she was the recipient of the Mary K. Bauman award for outstanding leadership in education of students with visual impairments. Along with Dr. Natalie Barraga, Dr. Erin is co-author of Visual Handicaps and Learning, 4th edition. She has presented internationally in Argentina, Australia, Mexico and Peru. Her writing and research interests are in education of students with visual and multiple disabilities, braille reading, and in parent and family issues related to visual impairment.
